Anyone seen anything good lately? So far this year I've seen the following in concert :

The Darkness

Marshall Crenshaw

Urge Overkill

The Smithereens

Man...that's only 4 concerts. Yikes. Aside from the music stuff, I did see these, too :

"The Walking Dead" Live

3 different Doug Benson "Movie Interruptions"

Superego w/Paul F. Tompkins at the KC ImprovFest

Seeing the Smithereens was a personal highlight...been a fan since, Jeezus, 1987? And I've had plans to see them live previously probably 3-4 times. But something's always gone wrong, & I couldn't make the show. I even historically referred to it as "The Smithereens Curse". So seeing them this summer ( for free, no less! ) was VERY satisfying.

I had a pretty good show year, mostly via two festivals, but I've gotten to see

Swans (Pitchfork Festival)

Breeders performing Last Splash (Pitchfork Festival)

Melvins 30th Anniversary Tour

Dinosaur Jr. (Riot Fest)

Guided By Voices (Riot Fest)

Blondie (Riot Fest)

Public Enemy (Riot Fest)

Violent Femmes (Riot Fest)

and Melt-Banana upcoming.

Also, I saw the Chicago leg of the Comedy Bang! Bang! tour, and Horatio Sanz impressed me just for weight-loss.

I love that you mention going to Riot Fest, but without bringing up the Replacements "reunion". If it was me, I would've spewed 1,000 words on that alone.

That's a hell of a list, though. I wish the CBB tour would've gotten close to KC.

Oh, man. That's a shame. I hope they end up doing more of a tour.

Last concert I went to was Billy Joel because my girlfriend is a huge fan. I like some of his stuff so I was able to enjoy my time there.

But these days concerts have kind of fallen off my radar with the daily rush of life going on around me.

Though if I can ever see Steel Panther live in c-bus I might just make time for that.

I don't hit as many as I used to. Wish I did.

And the day I'm too old for music is my last day on Earth, I'd assume.

Holy crap. That's Springsteen territory.

You can add another Doug Benson Movie Interruption show to my list. That's 4 this year.

There was a heavy "Bruce vibe" the whole night.. eddie dressed like Bruce, acted like Bruce, took requests on signs like Bruce.. it was a great show

Nice. I loved that band when they first came out ( after being a big Mother Love Bone guy before Seattle went ape**** ) . After 3 albums or so - I think the last one I bought was "Vitality" - for whatever reason I just kinda faded on them.

But I've always had this odd feeling that I may reconnect with their stuff at some point. My favorite tune of theirs actually comes from that Singles soundtrack :
