Crazy that it's taken until almost August to start this thread, but that's the way this year is gone. If you want to include the chamber music concert I went to a few months ago, that would be "show" number 1. Aside from that, all I've seen this year is Doug Benson in all his permutations ( stand-up/Movie Interruptions/Doug Loves Movies ) several times in 2014.
BUT...
In a couple weeks, we're scheduled to go see The Baseball Project. Mainly going for my girlfriend - she's an REM nut, & 2 of the guys from that are in this. She never got to see them live, so this is a chance for her to kind of get that. In a 300 capacity bar, no less.
I'd never heard any of their material beforehand, but I really enjoyed the Baseball Project show. As far as the REM connection goes, Peter Buck didn't play this show. But Mike Mills did, & she's my girlfriend's favorite. So it all worked out. She got some fan club stuff signed ( using the Official Pat Francis Autograph Pen, no less! ) & a couple of nice pics with him.
The next morning I started to look around to see if I could easily hear more of their stuff...& found that I could get all 3 Baseball Project albums from Amazon MP3 for a total of 15 bucks. Done.
