Just recovered from Riot Fest 2014 this past weekend in Chicago. Great weather 2 of 3 days, but they were after the rain and huge mudfields plagued the park the whole weekend. Highlights for me were The Cure, Patti Smith (she grew up in the area the fest was played), Superchunk, and The Flaming Lips. Was glad to see Billy Brag finally. Interesting shows were Die Antwoord, Wu-Tang Clan, and Slayer. Missed seeing these bands due to being on as another band I wanted to see more; Cheap Trick, Weezer, Primus, and Jane's Addiction. This lineup was remarkably better than Lollapalooza last month.
Met a great woman from NC that was a huge The Cure fan. She waited 30 years to see them. Sweet woman, never got her name. She cried during a few songs and it reminded me why music means so much to me. It is always appreciated to find someone with the same love, even if it isn't for the same band or genre.
