hmmmmm, this might be the first time ever I skip an episode of Rock Solid. I don't know if I can make it through 2 hours of Neil Diamond Talk……. I'll give it ye ol' college try but it won't be easy. Dirty iPod better show up to help get me through this.
Listened to it at work today. I'm not a Diamond fan by any stretch, but I liked the episode.
David's a nice addition - hopefully he'll pop back in from time to time. I just like the idea of 2 guys sitting around talking about something they love.
Fantastic. I knew the Hits would likely be avoided, but I was surprised at how deep this episode went. I knew I'd hear The Pot Smoking Song and possibly I Am the Lion, but the depths of late 70's/Mid 80's stuff impressed me from you guys.
I remember shaking my head in disbelief when he would play the movie song on the 3 Chord Opera Tour.
The last thing we want to do as music lovers is talk **** about other people's taste in music, and while there are a handful of Neil songs that I love, so much of his stuff just sounds like crap to me. So cheesy, so over dramatic. Some of it seems like it was done for comedic value.
I just like the idea of 2 guys sitting around talking about something they love.
Me too, its what makes podcasts great! Granted if I like it that's better. Not the biggest Diamond fan, but I'll be listening soon and maybe that will change (I did like Elvis a lot more after the Elvis v Elvis episode)

I just found this webcast via NNF (which I discovered through CBB) and was delighted to see a Neil Diamond episode. I understand some of the displeasure with his music because I only really dig the '68-'74 stuff. Anyone who can't stand his music should give his album Gold Live at the Troubadour from 1970 a listen. It absolutely rocks. Also, the guest was a great addition and had fascinating, insightful stories that really added to the fanboy aspect of this episode. It even changed my mind a little on some of Diamond's later output.
I was ecstatic to both hear the Pot Smoker's Song and I am the Lion, and ecstatic to see someone else mention it on this board!
I'm looking forward to listening to more episodes. I love Pat, Apey, and look forward to getting to know the other guest hosts better. Thanks for a great podcast for us music geeks!
