one of the cool things about listening to Rock Solid and it's been there since episode #1 is when one of the hosts plays a song and you suddenly realize it's a tune you liked, hadn't heard since it was released and had totally forgot about it. that happened again for me on this episode with "Let's Talk About It" from 1986. Totally took me back for a second. Had to pull up the video to watch. Man, Moon was cute as hell back then. She still looks pretty damn good. Fun song.
Yep - I have a picture sleeve 45 promo single of that one. Fished it out of the freebie pile at the radio station I worked at in the mid-80's. Always liked that song.
And I hadn't heard "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama" in FOREVER.
Some of the stuff on this upcoming record sounded pretty cool, too.
i finished listening tonight. I'm really glad they talked about when the Zappas would go on Conan O'Brien's show early on. They used to be hilarious on there. I didn't watch Conan that much back then but if I saw they were gonna be on I'd always tune in. Glad Dweezil talked about why they stopped going on, cause I always wondered why. I agree with Pat too, they should return.
I did watch Conan back then, & had completely forgotten about their appearances. He & Ahmet also hosted a show called "Happy Hour" that we used to watch. If I remember right, The Knack was on there once.
I remember Happy Hour. I tuned in to the first episode and, based on their Conan appearances, was pretty stoked for the show. But I remember being a little disappointed with it.
haha. good one Tom. Yeah Maron… I dunno. Hero to the Hipsters. I like his interviews for the most part. I'll only listen if he has someone I'm interested in on. But damn these days you gotta fast forward about 30 minutes of his bull**** before you even get to the guest….
The Replacements are in my all-time Top 10, but I never saw them back in the day. I did see Paul solo in '05.
Has Maron mentioned that him being on WTF is a possibility, or are you guys just wishing? I'd have to listen to it as a fan, but I fear Maron would drive me nuts with a lack of knowledge about the band.
