I'm thinking here of things that are outside of the mainstream pop/rock/country spectrum.
Wednesday I'm going to a classical music concert at the new-ish Kauffman Performing Arts Center here in KC. Schoenberg and Prokofiev. As a big chamber music guy, I'm really looking forward to it.
My wife and I went to see the "Bugs Bunny on Broadway" show in Ottawa maybe 10 years ago. It was incredibly entertaining. I understand there is a new show touring. I highly recommend it!
There's actually a Marvel Superhero live show that's going to be touring starting this year. There's a KC run, but it's like 2 years from now. If it's good & I can get tix pretty cheap, I could see myself maybe going as a goof.
I saw quite a few good comedy shows the last couple weeks at SFSketchfest.. David Koechner, The greatest event in TV history, The Nerdist podcast, Celebrity autobiography, and of course... Never Not Funny.
Pat, were u guys stuck in the Oakland airport??? My firehouse is 2 miles away!! You could of stopped by!!
Ha...I just realized I never followed up on this thread. Had a great time at the chamber music concert. I really need to go to more stuff like that - we've got a newer state of the art facility here in KC ( The Kauffman Performing Arts Center ). I need to take advantage of it on a more regular basis.
We've got a couple non-music things coming up over the next few weeks. Tomorrow, we're seeing "Serenity" at the Alamo Drafthouse. There's also a Q&A with some chick that was on "Firefly" & the movie. Going as a birthday present to my GF - she's a big Joss Whedon/"Firefly" dork.
Then for MY birthday at the end of the month I'm having a Doug Benson Weekend. Seeing him do standup at the Improv on the 29th, & a Benson Movie Interruption at the Alamo the following afternoon.
