anybody else host their own College Radio show? Might be a fun topic to delve into…. I went to School of Visual Arts in NYC. We had a tiny tiny ****ty little radio station. How ****ty? it was AM. This was the 90s mind you when 99% of the country had stopped paying any attention to AM. The call letters were WSVA. I think it was like 590AM, something like that. I started out with a 2 hour show called "The Steve Show" (my real name is Steve.) But on my first day the dude who was supposed to be on after me never showed up so I just stayed on. Thus began my 3 hour regular show. I always kicked every show off with my "theme" Danny Elfman's "Happy" from the Summer School soundtrack. I did the show for I think three years but quit in the final year because our program director had interned that summer at a real radio station and decided he was going to implement their way of running a radio station at our college station. Which meant all free form play what you want was out the window. He wanted formats and wanted us to play songs from a list he selected. It was a goof. College radio should always be all about free form in my opinion. so out the door I went…..
