A couple summers ago, I saw Van Halen for the first time. For whatever weird reason, I never saw them with Dave back in the day. I was a huge fan - had all the records - but just never saw them live. And when the first reunion tour with him came thru town, I blanched at the ticket prices. I was on vacation the week of the show - I wouldn't even have to take the night off.
So I regretted not going until tour #2 came around ( when they toured for "A Different Kind Of Truth" ). When I saw the KC date, I said "F the money - I'm GOING".
And $175 bucks later, I went. 13th row, if I remember right. Too much? Yeah. But it's just money...I'll make more. And I had a GREAT time.
I think mine has to be either The Police reunion tour or that same 2007 reunion Van Halen tour you were talking about that you passed on. Both were up around $130 and those were for maybe 2nd tier sections.
It's funny cause I remember paying $80 for U2 tickets in 1987 for the Joshua Tree tour and thinking that was insane. But those tickets were for like 10th Row or something.
These days $80 wouldn't even get ya in the nosebleeds of an arena rock show…..
