I haven't listened to that episode yet. Is she really thinking of leaving? That'd be a shame. Not a big fan of David Wilde. Never thought his writing was that great. But I know Pat's getting a tattoo of his name as we speak so I'm sure he'll be a frequent visitor.
I just listened. Surprised Christy let that comment bother her so much.
As for Wilde. I found it funny when he was telling about his recent run-in with Dave from Van Halen. First off, yes Dave seems nuts. And that's coming from a fan since 1982. But on the other hand I always thought Wilde's liner notes for that Best of Both Worlds collection were pretty bad. Amateurish, I'd say. Granted, maybe someone edited down whatever he wrote. But I do remember reading them back when it came out and thinking it felt like they were trying to write Dave out of it (funny that Ed would go on later to erasing Mike from the album covers.)
Wilde actually doesn't bug me. I don't know that I'd want him on the show more than he is, though.
I also think when he's on, maybe just ditch the idea of a topic. The dude has stories for days - just let him go off. Maybe do a couple of "Uncle Dave's Rock Tales" episodes every year or something.
