name a band you used to love and now don't.. or you used to hate and now love

One that comes to my mind is the GooGoo Dolls. I used to really like them, especially "Superstar carwash" and "A boy named goo".. nowadays they really suck, have lost all their balls and sound like a total wimpy chick band.

I used to hate Chicago, but after hearing Pardo go on and on about them I relistened to some of those old tunes and actually kinda like them :)

Agreed on the Goos. I go back to that "Hold Me Up" record for when I really got into them.

But man...they're the best example of a band who found a formula that would sell them an assload of records, & just went with it. I don't begrudge them that, but I also have zero interest.

A similar story would be Def Leppard. Love their first 2 albums, & some of "Pyromania". After that...overproduced garbage, IMO.

It's sad. I remember seeing a clip several years ago of some show where they played songs & took questions from the audience ( "Storytellers", maybe? I dunno. ) . And someone asked why their albums are just fluffy ballad stuff now. And Joe Elliott admitted to the guy that that's all they do because that's "all the radio will play".

For one thing...this was early 2000's, maybe? Radio doesn't give a rat**** about Def Leppard in any way that would be of assistance to their record sales. So that point's moot. And I just found it pathetic that he would admit that they just make records as product now. They're all millionaires, for Chrissakes.

I agree with you on Def Leppard.. LOVED "On through the night" and "High and Dry".. lost interest after Pyromania.. they turned into a "chick band"

This is an odd topic for me, because most often I will merely ignore the things I hate while listening to the old stuff I like. The hate to like would be a bit easier I suppose.

I used to hate hate hate Peter Frampton, but now I respect and even like some of his stuff, even the stuff I hated. Same with Neil Young. Used to hate him, now I am a fan. I chalk both up to growing more mature over the years.

Used to love Foreigner until the 80s happened, then they went all "I wanna know what loves is" and I checked out. While I still think Double Vision was a good album, I haven't listened to them actively for decades.

I was greatly disappointed in Genesis as they got more and more Phil-centric. I listen to Lamb and then listen to We Can't Dance and I weep

Motley Crue... for some reason I have been cranking them when they come on the radio lately. Used to hate them.

Funny, cuz that's another band I go the other way on. Love their debut album, some stuff from their 2nd, & after that it's scattered tracks only.

( and welcome to the board, BTW )
